Each year, students in grades 7-12 from Central and Northern New York are eligible to participate in the CNY Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. The mission of the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards is to “identify students with exceptional artistic talent and present their remarkable work to the world.” Through the awards, students receive opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarships. This is highly competitive with approximately only 30% of entries chosen to exhibit. There were close to 5,000 pieces of art submitted this year and around 1,200 pieces that were awarded. Our High School and Middle School art students were well represented this year. With such a competitive show, there are always students that do not get awarded. I want to say that no matter what results end up being, I am extremely proud of what my students have been creating. Keep it up! -Mr. Zehr
