Capital Project 2022 (From September 2022 Newsletter)

The Lowville Academy and Central School District has a responsibility to maintain and improve its facilities in order to provide a safe and efficient learning environment for our students. Over the past several months, the Board of Education and Central Administration have engaged in thoughtful planning with our architects, March Associates (Boonville). We take great pride in our school and the clean, safe conditions we are able to provide for our students and community. Much like your own home improvements, it is important to us to continually make improvements to provide these conditions. In the case of our upcoming public referendum, voters will be asked to support a Capital Project to improve basic infrastructure, roofs, sidewalks and pavement, and update selected instructional spaces.

On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, Lowville Academy and Central School district residents will have the opportunity to vote on a proposition regarding our proposed capital improvement project.  This project seeks to address a number of needs for our students. Included in the referendum is authorization to acquire additional property adjacent to the school campus for added space and future growth of the district.

Because of our role as responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars, this project will have no tax impact on our community. Through the use of a Capital Reserve, a state reimbursement rate of almost 89%, and through other available funds, this project will have no tax impact on our community.

There will be a public information session held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 6:30 in the elementary cafeteria to discuss the details of the project. Additionally, information booths will be available at each of our buildings’ open house events as well as Homecoming Weekend.

Thank you for your outstanding support of the students and educational programs of Lowville Academy.
