Lowville Academy 218th Commencement Program For June 27th
On June 27, 2026, Lowville Academy graduated 74 seniors from the Class of 2026. The Board of Education event celebrated the accomplishments of the class in a ceremony held in our main gymnasium. Graduates, faculty, parents and guests attended the 218 th commencement exercise.
A traditional procession of 74 graduates was led by flag bearers Rioux Barney and Gavin Harper who entered to the tune of “Pomp and Circumstance” played by Mrs. Elizabeth Zehr, music teacher.
Ms. Rebecca Dunckel, Superintendent of Schools, opened the Class of 2026 commencement exercise with a brief welcome just after the National Anthem was sung by select chorus members.
Mia Hanselman, President of the National Honor Society, gave the traditional student perspective, while Nolan Moshier, Treasurer of the National Honor Society and Anthony LaPuma, Secretary of the National Honor Society gave special recognition to retiring staff. Class President, Mya Lehman, gave a “charge to the class” prior to the select chorus performing “Seasons of Love’”. Brayden Gillette, Vice President of the National Honor Society, then introduced the 218th commencement speaker, Mr. Jackson Hyde, High School Librarian.
Selected Class of 2026 graduates received graduation prizes and memorial awards from High School Principal, Mr. Brian Hanselman, followed by scholarship presentations by Superintendent, Ms. Rebecca Dunckel. The New York State High School Diploma was handed out by Lowville Board of Education President, Mrs. Cheyenne Steria. After the diploma granting, Nolan Moshier and Samantha Reynolds recognized contributions of alumni and invited everyone to sing the Lowville Academy Alma Mater. A recessional concluded the 218th ceremony with a reception held for the graduates and their families.
