The LACS Food Service Program and staff are committed to providing our students with nutritious breakfasts and lunches that follow federal guidelines while being affordable and delicious. Lowville Academy participates in the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program. The cafeteria receives support for these programs in the form of reimbursement money for meals served and from USDA commodity foods used to prepare the meals served. The amount of food varies from month to month and is also based on the number of meals that are served at LACS. The more meals served, the more support the School Breakfast and Lunch Programs receive. We encourage all students to eat both breakfast and lunch at school. We thank everyone who supports the LACS meal programs, and we will continue to do our best to provide meals that students enjoy while following the Federal Guidelines that govern us.
Reminder - Free and Reduced Lunch Applications Still Available for 2016-17
Any parent who may have had a change in employment circumstances or to those new to the district, please contact the business office at 376-9001 for an application for the Free and Reduced Lunch Program. We can quickly tell you informally if you meet the guidelines and will help you get started.
Honey Glazed Oven Roasted Brussel Sprouts with dried cranberries & parmesan cheese were served in the elementary school in December. The recipe for this fun and tasty dish is:
Kid-Friendly Brussel Sprouts Recipe
1 pound fresh Brussels sprouts
3 Tbsp. olive oil
3 Tbsp. honey
1 ½ tsp garlic salt
Black pepper to taste
¼ cup dried cranberries
¼ cup Parmesan cheese
Preheat oven to 450 degree F.
Cut the ends of brussel sprouts and then cut in half.
Whisk olive oil, honey, garlic salt and black pepper in a bowl and then toss with brussel sprouts.
Spread on a baking sheet and sprinkle with dried cranberries and parmesan cheese.
Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
